[[ long answer ]]
* Definition :-

*Geography is likely the oldest of all sciences. It is the answer to the question that the earliest humans asked, “What’s over there?” Exploration and the discovery of new places, new cultures, and new ideas have always been basic components of geography. Geography is often called the “mother of all sciences” as studying other people and other places led to other scientific fields such as biology, anthropology, geology, mathematics, astronomy, chemistry, among others.
The first person to use the word “geography” was Eratosthenes (276-194 BC).
As per Encyclopaedia Brittanica ,
“Geography is the study of the diverse environments, places, and spaces of the Earth’s surface and their interactions; it seeks to answer the questions of why things are as they are, where they are.”
To most people, geography means knowing where places are and what they are like. Discussion of an area’s geography usually refers to its topography—its relief and drainage patterns and predominant vegetation, along with climate and weather patterns—together with human responses to that environment, as in agricultural, industrial, and other land uses and in settlement and urbanization patterns.
*Geography informs us about:
1)The places and communities in which we live and work
2)Our natural environments and the pressures they face
3)The interconnectedness of the world and our communities within it
4)How and why the world is changing, globally and locally
5)How our individual and societal
actions contribute to those changes
6)The choices that exist in managing our world for the future
7)The importance of location in business and decision-making.
It is the study of the earth’s landscapes, peoples, places and environments. It is, quite simply, about the world in which we live.
We can also say , ” Geography is: a social science that focuses on the spatial distribution of human and physical phenomena; It is the study of the physical world, its inhabitants, the interaction between the two, and the patterns and systems involved;
the world and all that is in it; it is the study of pattern and processes asociated with the earth; it is the study of relationships between humans and their environment by emphasizing a spatial and environmental perspective at a variety of scales. ”
As a spatial discipline—it is a perspective that seeks to understand patterns on Earth and the processes that created them; it is the study of humans interacting with their environment including the physical environment, the built environment and socially constructed spaces; and a spatial perspective of all human and physical phenomena.

India, officially known as the Republic of India, is a federal constitutional republic with a parliamentary democracy, located in South Asia. With a population of over 1.2 billion people, India is the second most populous nation in the world with China being the only preceding nation. It however holds the status of being the most populous democracy in the world. India has a total geographical area of 3,287,263 square kilometers, which makes it the seventh largest country in the world.
India is bordered by Pakistan in the west; Bhutan, China and Nepal in the northeast, Bangladesh and Myanmar in the east, the Arabian Sea in the southwest, the Bay of Bengal in the southeast and the Indian Ocean in the south. It also shares a maritime border with Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand and Indonesia. Of these, Sri Lanka and Maldives lie in the vicinity of mainland India while Thailand and Indonesia are in vicinity of Andaman and Nicobar, which is a union territory of the Union of India.
India has the tenth largest economy in the world in terms of nominal GDP on stands on fourth position on the globe by purchasing power parity. Though problems like corruption, inadequate public health, poverty and illiteracy are still prevalent in India but after the economic reforms of 1991, the country has managed to become one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
India is also recognized for its demonstration of a rich and diverse culture since historic era. It is the point of origin to four major religions of the world – Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Three other major religions, namely, Zoroastrianism, Christianity and Islam are also known to have penetrated into the Indian soil in early 1st millennium AD. These and several other religions have contributed in providing this nation its cultural diversity. In addition to this diversity of religions, India also displays diversity in languages and dialects. This further adds to its cultural diversity.
Back in its history, India has been home to the Indus Valley and the Harappa Civilization which are believed to be some of the earliest human settlements on the globe. Signs obtained from the archeological sites of these civilizations shows that India had been a rich spot of trade and commerce even in those early years, as it has been in its entire recorded history. Nations wealth and resources have been a source of attraction to the foreign traders and invaders in medieval history of India. Perhaps it was for this reason that this country suffered numerous invasions in the medieval era.
Since the early eighteenth century, India came under the gradual control of the East India Company. Later the nation was directly ruled and administered by the United Kingdom after its failed attempt of independence in form of the revolt of 1857. India finally achieved its independence in 1947 after a long struggle which was marked by non-violent resistance under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
The parliamentary democracy of India comprises of 28 states and 7 union territories.
India is a nuclear power and has the third largest army in the world. In terms of the military expenditure the country stands on tenth position on the globe. Along with being a founding member of some potent international organizations and movements like the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM), World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations (UN), South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), G20 and the G8+5, India also holds a position in the five BRICS and the Common Wealth nations.

During the U.S. 4th of July break, I finally read a stack of articles I had put aside months ago. I was most absorbed by the Time Magazine cover article ‘10 Ideas That Are Changing Your Life.’ You can read each of the ideas by clicking on the links below, but for those of you who have limited time, I’ve provided my own summary for the first five:
- Living Alone Is The New Norm
- Your Head Is In The Cloud
- Handprints, Not Footprints
- The Rise Of The Nones
- Food That Lasts Forever
- Black Irony
- High-Status Stress
- Privacy In Public
- Nature Is Over
- Niche Aging
Living Alone is the New Norm
In 1950, Americans who lived alone made up only 9% of households; in 2011 solitary households reached 28% which makes them tied with childless couples as the most common U.S. residential type. Solitary dwellers are primarily middle-aged women aged…

What is Reference Point
10 JulQ. What is Reference Point ?
[[ short answer ]]
Reference Point : A reference point in physics is a point in space, regardless of the type of geometry that you are using that stays still and does not move. From this point the behaviour of an object moving through that space can be determined.
In 3 dimensional space, the reference point is usually considered to be the zero point where all 3 axes are 0.

Explain Motion
10 JulQ. Explain Motion .
[[ short answer ]]
There are many objects around us. Some are stationary like trees which are fixed at a place , house, a school, a factory all are stationary objects. On the other hand, a man, animals, birds, cars, buses, train, aero planes … etc do not remain stationary all time. They can move from one place to another. These are called moving objects and the movement of the body is called motion.
A common characteristic of all the moving bodies is that they change their position with time
A body is said to be in motion when its position changes continuously with respect to a stationary object taken as reference point.

Father Of History
10 JulQ. Who is The Father Of History ?
Answer : Herodotus .
_-About Herodotus-_
Herodotus, an Athenian historian who wrote the first complete account of an historical event (at least in the Western world). He covered the Greek-Persian war, from the original hostility (the Trojan War) down to his own time.
Herodotus believed that the universe is ruled by Fate and Chance, and that nothing is stable in human affairs. Moral choice is still important, however, since arrogance (Hubris) brings down upon itself the retribution of the gods (Nemesis).
Herodotus’ effective attempt to draw moral lessons from the study of great events formed the basis of the Greek and Roman historiographical tradition which he is held to have established.
He is sometimes known as “Herodotus of Halicarnassus”.
Herodotus died in 425 BC.
—————————————————————————————-
Well actually no one wrote full history , But since the tradition of written past started with the accounts of Herodotus , He is sometimes regarded as Father Of History.

What is history ??
10 JulQ. What is History ??
[[ Short Answer ]]
* History is the study of past events , particularly in Humans.
* There are actually two definitions. The one you cite is the popular notion of history as the sum total of all that happened in the past. But to those who wish to be precise, history is the written record of past events. The word itself comes from the French histoire which simply means ‘story.’ People who use this latter definition, refer to anything in the past that occurred before there were any written records as pre-history. Pre-history can be inferred only from such things as archeological excavations and hints in folklore, e.g. very old folk-songs and folk-tales.
[[ Long Answer ]]
*Definition Of history :-
( Refer to Short answer Above )
*
As per the encyclopaedia Brittanica
“The word history is used in two senses.
It may mean either the record of events, or events themselves. Originally limited to inquiry and statement, it was only in comparatively modern times that the meaning of the word was extended to include the phenomena which form or might form their subject. It was perhaps by a somewhat careless transference of ideas that this extension was brought about. Now indeed it is the commoner meaning. We speak of the history of England without reference to any literary narrative. We term kings and statesmen the makers of history, and sometimes say that the historian only records the history which they make. History in this connection is obviotisly not the record, but the thing to be recorded. It is unfortunate that such a double meaning of the word should have grown up, for it is productive of not a little confusion of thought.
History in the wider sense is all that has happened, not merely all the phenomena of human life, but those of the natural world as well. It includes everything that undergoes change; and as modern science has shown that there is nothing absolutely static, therefore the whole universe, and every part of it, has its history. The discovery of ether brought with it a reconstruction of our ideas of the physical universe, transferring the emphasis from the mathematical expression of static relationships to a dynamic conception of a universe in constant transformation; matter in equipoise became energy in gradual readjustment. Solids are solids no longer. The universe is in motion in every particle of every part; rock and metal merely a transition stagc between crystallization and dissolution. This idea of universal activity has in a sense made physics itself a branch of history. It is the same with the other sciencesespecially the biological division, where the doctrine of evolution has induced an atttudc of mind which is distinctly historical.”
History is nothing but a study of past events of any part of this world. Whether We study History Of India or England or elsewhere , we actually study about what happened there in the past & how the civilisation shaped itself in the present form . What was the pattern of Living , administration & Culture etc. We study everything in History .
